Sustainability — Heli Tour Bali’s Environmental & Community Commitments

Sustainability & Community Impact

At Heli Tour Bali, we believe that the privilege of showcasing Bali’s breathtaking beauty comes with a profound responsibility to protect it. Our commitment to sustainability is woven into every aspect of our operations, focusing on three core pillars: Environmental Stewardship, Community Empowerment, and Cultural Preservation. We are dedicated to ensuring that our presence is a positive force for the island and its people for generations to come.

Environmental Stewardship

We are acutely aware of our environmental footprint and take proactive measures to minimize it.

  • Carbon Offset Program: We are committed to offsetting 100% of the carbon emissions from our flights. We partner with the Rimba Raya Biodiversity Reserve Project in Kalimantan, a world-leading REDD+ project that protects carbon-dense peat forests and critical orangutan habitats.
  • Noise Abatement Procedures: Our flight paths are meticulously designed in collaboration with AirNav Indonesia to minimize noise impact. We maintain higher altitudes over residential areas, sacred temples, and sensitive wildlife areas like the Bali Barat National Park.
  • Marine Conservation Support: A portion of every tour booking is donated to the Coral Triangle Center in Sanur. This contribution directly supports their work in marine conservation, education, and the sustainable management of the fragile reef ecosystems around the Nusa Islands.
  • Elimination of Single-Use Plastics: We maintain a strict zero single-use plastic policy. All guest amenities, from water bottles to snack packaging, are reusable or made from biodegradable materials. We require the same commitment from our catering partners.

Community Empowerment

Our business is deeply rooted in the local community. We believe in creating shared value and opportunities.

  • Local Employment & Development: Over 90% of our ground crew, administrative staff, and guest experience team are hired from local Balinese communities. We provide competitive wages, comprehensive health and employment insurance (BPJS Kesehatan & Ketenagakerjaan), and ongoing professional development and training programs.
  • Supporting Local Economies: We prioritize sourcing from local suppliers. Our guest welcome drinks feature fresh local ingredients, our in-flight snacks are sourced from Balinese artisans, and our ground transportation is provided by trusted local partners.
  • Community Investment: We actively support a local community project in the village of Tenganan Pegringsingan, known for its unique ‘geringsing’ double ikat weaving. Our support helps fund workshops that pass this rare skill to the next generation, preserving a vital piece of Balinese heritage.

Cultural Preservation

We approach Bali’s rich culture with the utmost respect and reverence.

  • Respectful Operations: We consult with cultural leaders (pemangku) and village councils (desa adat) to ensure our operations do not disrupt ceremonies or disrespect sacred sites.
  • Authentic Storytelling: The commentary provided by our pilots is developed with input from Balinese historians and cultural experts. We aim to provide context and meaning to the sights, fostering a deeper appreciation for the island’s history and the philosophy of Tri Hita Karana.

Our journey towards sustainability is ongoing. We are continuously exploring new technologies and practices to further reduce our impact and enhance our positive contributions to Bali. We believe this is not just good business; it is our duty as custodians of this remarkable island.
